Major Animal Charitable Trust – West Midlands
Andrew is appointed to provide a Midlands regional search for a new site and make an economic development & planning case for the Organisation’s new proposed Eco-friendly sustainable animal centre development. The project is likely to take 2/3 years from concept to completion.

Planning Application for removal of Agricultural Tie Condition on Rural Residential Property in Warwickshire & Worcestershire
Andrew has been appointed by local property owners to pursue the removal of Agricultural Tie conditions from a range of properties owned by landlords in the Rural Warwickshire & Worcestershire Regions.

Carlisle FE College & Cumbria County Council
Andrew developed a paper for consideration by the FE colleges in Cumbria, Local Construction Companies, Cumbria County Council and the supportive Nuclear Decommissioning Agency to embrace domestic encouragement of appropriate construction skill & Project Management skills development. This would be achieved through the mechanism of a live construction project and social enterprise venture. YHA of England & Wales – Sustainable Capital Investment Strategy
Appointed by the Board of the Youth Hostel Association of England & Wales to provide a sustainable capital investment strategy. Specifically Andrew’s work provided a report overview of the various financial options open to the YHA Group to resolve continuing difficulties in securing sustainable capital investment for its smaller rural hostel portfolio for the purposes of:
• Repair and refurbishment
• Potential renewable energy conversion
• Increase the physical efficiencies of hostels to reduce bills & allow greater overall overhead contribution and less dependency.
Andrew drew up examples involving Co-operative Share Issue, Debenture mechanisms, Ethical Investment philosophy as well as visiting overseas hostel Organisations including briefings from France, Australia & NZ to allow some groundbreaking innovations to be brought into the wider YHA Board thinking.

SEG Feasibility Study
Opportunity
The Solway Energy Gateway’s project,
following the securing of initial feasibility funding from the NWDA. Scottish Enterprise and the Nuclear
Decommissioning Agency is offering an invitation to tender opportunity to consultancy consortiums to provide a
viability study of extracting tidal energy on the Solway Firth. The study should also consider:
• Significant economic development impact
• Immediate employment and associated employment opportunities
• Flood defence
• Potential for freshwater storage and
extraction •
Unique tourism opportunity offering re-branding and promotion of the
region
SEG also seeks to improve connectivity for West Cumbria and South West Scotland – if linked
to possible constructions across Morecambe Bay and the Duddon Estuary it would help to create an enhanced
connective corridor for West Cumbria and South West Scotland.

Wyre Tidal Energy
Assistance
Andrew, through nb21c (social enterprise) ltd, has provided consultancy services to fellow North West Tidal Energy
Group members Wyre Tidal Energy, who are seeking to promote a 50-60W tidal energy barrage project on the Wyre
Estuary at Fleetwood.
Frank Weald, who chairs the group, requested guidance form nb21c directors on the projects economic development
strategy, economic model and branding policy. The work undertaken by nb21c has helped shaped the communities
position in the project and given guidance on the next steps in respect of regional economic and planning
frameworks.

Newman Bros Coffin Works – Birmingham Conservation Trust
Andrew gave advice and suggestions to The Birmingham Conservation Trust in respect of design and development finance advice for the conversion of the Newman Bros Coffin Works Building in Birmingham, to a museum and specialist Funereal Business Clustering Centre leading to its ultimate successful acquisition by The Trust in September 2010.
